Experience: 15 years
Trainer Robin Housen is one if IMMARTIAL’ competition fighter and he is here since the start. Robin has a lot of experience in several martial arts disciplines.
Robin started at the age of 12 with Jeet Kune Do.
Jeet Kune Do is a hybrid philosophy of martial arts heavily influenced by the personal philosophy and experiences of martial artist Bruce Lee. Lee, who founded the system on July 9, 1967, referred to it as “non-classical”, suggesting that JKD is a form of Chinese Kung Fu, yet without form. Unlike more traditional martial arts, Jeet Kune Do is not fixed or patterned, and is a philosophy with guiding thoughts. It was named for the Wing Chun concept of interception or attacking when one’s opponent is about to attack. Jeet Kune Do practitioners believe in minimal effort with maximum effect.
Robin started to do kickboxing, judo, grappling and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) as well, which make him the perfect MMA practitioner.
Since Robin lives on curacao, his passion for martial arts has grown and he decided to give up his master chef excistence at the end of 2018 to focus full time on the sport. At IMMARTIAL he can combine his training with work.
Robin has in the meanwhile participated in several MMA and Boxing competitions locally and abroad. Robin takes it very serious and we hope to have him at lest once a quarter a fight.
Due to his broad experience including on the mats and in the ring/ octagon, and he likes to share his knowledge with people and help them grow further, makes him the right fit for you and IMMARTIAL.
Robin started Jeet Kune Do at the age of 12 at Martial Arts Defence Systems in Kerkrade, The Netherlands.
His teacher was Marc Duykers who is involved into Martial Arts since he can remember.
Robin also started to do Kickboxing at Martial Arts Defence Systems and he loved the full contact with Kickboxing. He never competed in the Netherlands though, but he trained it a lot.
When he moved to Curacao he continued at PRO-FIT at that time also owned by among others Gideon Jonker. Robin was one of the most hard working athlete and a great example that training beats talent.
At this moment Robin continues training at IMMARTIAL again by Gideon Jonker and many guest appearances.
Robin started BJJ under wing of Black Belt Chris Tjon from Medina Grappling in the year 2017. Robin is one of the boys at Medina who almost does not skip a training. Robin works hard to grow fast in this discipline.
Robin also does his grappling at Medina Grappling, which is a good addition for his MMA skills.
Robin also follows the BJJ class at IMMARTIAL, which is also under guidance of Medina Grappling Association and he is currently busy with his first exam.
All of the above is an example where MMA, Mixed Martial Arts stands for. Robin is definitely the MMA Athlete, as he tries to outperform himself and others during each training of every discipline.
Robin has a current MMA record of 2-1 (including a no show of an “opponent” who seems to be impressed by Robin during the weigh-in. Robin & IMMARTIAL are working hard to get more fights for Robin, but he is always ready.
Robin is one of the best examples on the island and for sure at IMMARTIAL – Athlete Centre.
Robin accepts all challenges and he want to compete as much as possible. Boxing is one of the disciplines he also does to gain as much as possible experience into the ring.
Robin’ current amateur boxing record is 1-0, and he will step into the ring April 27th in Aruba.
